Cherry Bread

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs, separated
2 cup flour
2 teaspoon baking powder
1 small bottle of maraschino cherries (chopped and tossed with flour)

Pour juice from the cherries into a measuring cup, add milk enough to make 1 cup and 1 egg.

Cream sugar, butter and egg. Sift flour and baking powder together into another bowl. Alternately add milk mixture and flour mixture to creamed ingredients. Fold in chopped cherries. Grease 1 loaf pan. Pour batter into pan and let stand for 20 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake for approximately 1 hour or until done. {For smaller loaves bake for 35 to 40 minutes.)
